We have an exciting opportunity for aCulture and Events Officerto join our dedicatedCulture and Events Team . You will develop cultural initiatives and manage and deliver a relevant programme of events.We are looking for someone with experience in designing and managing events and cultural projects, and an awareness of associated health and safety considerations. You will work with artists, partners, community groups, and service providers to deliver the Lord Mayor’s Weekend and other key city events. An excellent communicator and team player with experience working in partnership to meet tight deadlines is essential.The post holder must complete a DBS check, hold a valid driving licence, and be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and bank holidays to meet service needs.Closing date:23 May 2025Interview date:Thursday 12 June and Friday 13 June 2025ResponsibilitiesFestivals and Events:Develop and coordinate city festivals and events in partnership with the cultural sector under the direction of the Culture and Events Manager.Provide creative input and develop new and existing activities.Coordinate plans, schedules, and reviews for event activities.Sourcing, booking, and managing resources required.Identify staff requirements, interview, select, and contract temporary staff, and produce detailed schedules and briefing notes.Manage activities on-site.Open Spaces:Coordinate the hiring of open spaces for community and cultural activities.Maintain records of all hire agreements.Administer booking procedures, contracts, and payments, and update procedures.Ensure appropriate use of open spaces.Financial and Procurement:Allocate event budgets under the direction of the Culture and Events Manager.Negotiate for best value.Contract entertainment, services, and equipment.Maintain inventories and stock control.Administer and audit ticket sales and maintain related records.Why work for usOur council is composed of people who have chosen to work in local government to help others and make a difference in their community and environment.
