Job Description

Snyder ISD is looking for a Director of Finance to lead the district’s financial operations. Serving more than 2,400 students and 400 employees, Snyder ISD is committed to maintaining strong financial stewardship in support of our educational mission. The Director of Finance will manage a $30 million annual operating budget and oversee all financial activities of the district, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. We are seeking a leader who can balance the pursuit of academic excellence with responsible financial management — someone who looks for innovative yet sound solutions to support students, staff, and the long-term success of the district. Key Responsibilities: Manage the district’s annual budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources to meet operational and instructional priorities. Oversee payroll operations for all district employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments. Administer and track federal and state grants, maintaining compliance and maximizing available resources. Lead the management and compliance of the Child Nutrition Program budget. Serve as the district’s Investment Officer, responsibly managing and optimizing district investments. Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Trustees, providing clear, data-driven insights to support decision-making. Maintain and update fiscal manuals to ensure consistency, transparency, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with external auditors and agencies to support auditing and compliance processes. Lead and develop the business office team, fostering a culture of professionalism, service, and continuous improvement.Ideal Candidate Profile: Committed to balancing academic achievement and financial stewardship for the benefit of students and the community. Actively seeks innovative, practical solutions to manage resources effectively while supporting district priorities. Approaches financial management with integrity, transparency, and a focus on long-term sustainability.Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). CPA certification or TASBO certification preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in school district financial management or a comparable public sector role. Strong knowledge of Texas public school finance, accounting standards, payroll systems, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets, grants, investments, and financial operations with accuracy and strategic foresight. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills.Why Snyder ISD? Salary $84,592- $129,898 401 (a) retirement contribution matching: 100% match up to 5% of your salary, vested after 5 years Hybrid Calendar - providing 11 additional paid days to 10-month employees over a traditional school calendar /calendar (12 month staff get Fridays off in the summer!) $50,000 life insurance policy $5,100 annually paid toward medical policy Retention Incentive:All full time staff are eligible for an additional 401(a) contributionfor each 5 years of service: $500 at 5 years, up to $3,000 at 30 years.Why Snyder, Texas?
