About the roleThe UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding - together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is developing and constructing a series of HVDC projects along the East Coast of the UK, that will be delivered either within joint venture partnerships with the two Scottish Transmission Owners, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) and Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN).The Head of Delivery - Cables role will lead the mobilisation and delivery of the c£2bn cable EPC contract on behalf of the joint venture covering both marine and onshore cable scope, and other associated contracts to successfully delivery the end to end solution.This role is based within UK, with the requirement to be mobile to travel to various parts of the UK and overseas, as the project progresses.About youWhat we do isn’t just important - it’s essential. You’ll ideally have knowledge of the National Grid business and be passionate about the nature of our work. You will have natural leadership qualities and an excellent stakeholder centric approach that delivers on expectations, whilst being knowledgeable at stakeholder engagement and management. With strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing large, devolved teams, and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.What you'll do•Accountable for the definition, development and successful delivery of the Cables package of works with a budget of c£2bn of complex infrastructure contracts, safely, to time, budget, and quality. •Provide senior leadership across the project as a member of the Project Management Team, driving a collaborative and supportive culture. •Build strong, open and constructive relationships with key stakeholders including JV partners, Supply Chain, Regulator and Consenting Authorities, to enhance the understanding of this major programme of works. •Accountable for the robust monitoring, control and reporting within the project (including SHESQ performance, programme progress, risk management etc) and provide accurate and timely information to support Executive, Regulatory reporting cycles and the business and capital plan of the Transmission Owners. •Lead and embed a positive safety culture and process safety within the project team and our supply chain, to improve collective safety performance ensuring adherence to both company and JV policies, aims and objectives. •Provide coaching, guidance, direction, and leadership to the project team while ensuring resources meet budget and business plan objectives. •Responsible for the integration of activities of multiple, major project operations; ensuring that project efforts are cohesive, consistent, and effective in supporting both National Grid’s and the TO partners vision, goals, and strategic plan.What you'll getA competitive salary between £80,000 - £100,000 - dependent on capability.As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
