About the role Reporting to:Lead Category Manager Based:Watford, Equity or Eccles Job Summary:Maximising the profitability of specified product categories, improving customer satisfaction, and cash profit. We are looking to recruit a Category Manager in the Impulse/Confectionery team, based either in Watford, Equity, or Eccles offices. Responsibilities: Developing and implementing category plans to meet sales, margin, and profit targets while maintaining product availability. Growing own brand business through sourcing to enhance sales and margins. Negotiating annually with suppliers for competitive terms. Responding to customer feedback to shape category plans, linking to sell plans and customer satisfaction. Handling customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly. Communicating category plans and objectives effectively to ensure understanding and buy-in. Ensuring product displays reflect principles of good, better, and best. Collaborating with the senior team to identify opportunities and improve workflows. Leading the category team, managing performance, and planning for succession, supporting Booker’s values of inclusion and career development. Adhering to the Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity, and promoting diversity and inclusion. Operational Skills Needed: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make commercial decisions. Attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and record-keeping skills. Knowledge of relevant markets and developments. Flexibility in work approach. Experience Required: Extensive experience in FMG and leading a buying team. Proven ability to work autonomously. Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns.
