BackgroundThe Defence & National Security (D&NS) theme at the Turing is expanding its Applied Research Group (ARG). ARG applies cutting-edge research to real-world problems in collaboration with partners, including technical and subject-matter experts. Role ResponsibilitiesDevelop and adapt advanced data science and machine learning techniques to solve partner challenges. Work collaboratively using industry-standard tools for testing, version control, and sharing software artifacts. Conduct experiments, build and deploy models, develop data processing systems, and create visualizations. Manage applied research projects and liaise with partners, including travel as needed. Candidate RequirementsPhD or equivalent in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, electrical/electronic engineering, or related fields. Experience in cybersecurity or machine learning. Proven experience in applied research projects. Proficiency in languages such as Python, C, C++, JavaScript, SQL, Java, etc. Experience managing stakeholder relationships and resolving conflicts. Experience in scientific computing, familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and HPCs. Security clearance eligibility (DV clearance or willingness to obtain).
