Sewell Wallis is currently working with an international logistics business that is recruiting a Payroll Assistant to join their finance team based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. They are seeking a committed and competent individual with experience as a Payroll Assistant/Coordinator or in a similar role. Ideally, candidates will be studying for their CIPP qualification or interested in doing so, but this is not essential. What will you be doing?Ensuring accurate input and checking of payroll processing for all DB Cargo UK 4-weekly and monthly payrolls, including variable payments and self-service activities, in line with company policy and payroll legislation. Acting as the primary contact for complex queries and resolving issues efficiently. Administering the company's Flexible Benefits and Recognition Program, including Cycle to Work, Childcare Vouchers, Annual Leave Purchase Scheme, and Fuel & Go. Coordinating Benefits in Kind, including payrolling benefits and P11d reporting related to the company fleet, staff travel, and private medical insurance, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation. Managing the administration of Defined Benefit & Defined Contribution Pension Schemes and AVCs, including Automatic Enrolment, annual reassessment, pension governance, and calculations of contributions in accordance with scheme rules. Ensuring payroll compliance by adhering to statutory guidelines such as PAYE, National Minimum Wage, and Salary Sacrifice, and providing advisory support to employees. Monitoring and calculating company and statutory pay and leave entitlements in line with policies and legal requirements. Processing new starters and leavers according to company policies and legislation. Administering and reconciling time and attendance system outputs for overtime and special payments, including driver excess hours and Christmas enhancements. Coordinating and delivering the annual Average Holiday Pay process, maintaining communication with stakeholders like the Finance Team and Employee Relations. Verifying payroll control reports and supporting the pre-approval process, including finalizing the payroll BACS file for pay day. What skills are we looking for?Payroll qualifications are highly desirable. Experience as a Payroll Assistant or in a similar payroll department role. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Experience communicating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
