Our client is a thriving local engineering business with a strong client base across the UK and Ireland. They are now seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their South Down based team.The successful applicant will be responsible for co-ordinating the company’s transport operations from their NI headquarters across the UK, Ireland and occasionally Europe.Responsibilities:Co-ordinating loads for shipping on running units or shipping trailers only, ensuring empty unaccompanied trailers are returned for loading; Booking ferriesDriver hours management within RHA guidelinesSeeking Permits for abnormal loads throughout UK and IrelandEnsuring loads adhere to weight limitsManaging vehicles for availability for respective checks & PSVsOrganising breakdown recoveries throughout UKManaging driver holiday coverCriteria:Previous relevant experience in transportation / logistics including:Shipping and booking boatsFreight paperworkVosa regulations and Drivers Hours restrictionsBooking PSVsRecording MaintenanceLogistics of organising freight out and back loads home to minimal mileage and drivers hoursAbility to prioritise workload and operate with a sense of urgencyGood IT skillsFlexibility with respect to working hours if requiredSalary is in the region of £40k depending on experience. Applicants should be based in the South Down or local area as this is an on-site position.
