With over 150 years of history and a strong reputation in specialist lending and retail banking, the organisation is modernising its data infrastructure, migrating from legacy systems to a fully cloud-based Azure environment.Role OverviewAs a Senior Data Engineer, youll play a key role in supporting the businesss operational and strategic data needs. This role focuses on maintaining and evolving critical on-premise SQL Server data warehouses, while also contributing to wider data transformation initiatives. You'll work end-to-end across the data lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with stakeholders to design, document, and deliver robust data solutions. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role within a collaborative and supportive team environment, where mentoring and knowledge-sharing are actively encouraged.Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesMaintain and develop the on-premise SQL Server data warehouses that support daily business operationsTranslate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver high-quality, scalable data productsDocument and present technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders for feedback and approvalCollaborate with a team of 10 Data Engineers and work closely with the broader data function (Architecture, BI, Governance, etc.)Support project delivery by contributing to initiatives that improve data accessibility, reporting, and operational efficiencyMentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support in their developmentParticipate in team meetings, solution design sessions, and peer reviews to ensure consistent quality and best practicesWhat youll need:Extensive experience in a data engineering roleDeep knowledge of SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRSExperience working in regulated or financial environmentsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsA pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset
