We are representing a large organisation who is looking for a skilled Design Manager to lead the design work for their Capital Programme. This role plays a key part in delivering major infrastructure projects, including asset investment, customer connections, and network upgrades.What You’ll Do:Manage the full design process from early planning through to construction and commissioningLead and support a team of Design Leads, Engineers, Technicians, and Contractors. Deliver high-quality, cost-effective designs using both internal and external teamsEnsure all designs meet safety, legal, and operational standardsOversee budgets and project timelines Work closely with senior leadership, contributing to strategy and decision-makingPromote the use of digital tools and repeatable design solutions to improve efficiencyIdentify areas for innovation and process improvementEnsure all work complies with CDM regulations and company health and safety policiesWhat We’re Looking For:A strong background in engineering design, ideally within the power or utilities sectorProven leadership experience managing technical teams and large budgetsExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsDegree level or equivalent in engineering or science, or equivalent qualifications and experienceExperience in a design management positionExperience of power system studies, protection systems, cable, civil and overhead line design;Proficient in report writingExperience managing several project portfolios;Knowledge of Construction Design and Management RegulationsThis is a high-impact role where you’ll help shape the future of our network through smart, safe, and scalable design.
