JMC Aviation is working with a Maintenance Repair Organisation based in Birmingham, looking to recruit a new Machinist to join their team.This client is a leading MRO dealing with base maintenance as well as interior modifications, fuel systems repair and maintenance for both commercial and military aircraft. The Machinist operates machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to cut and produce precision parts, instruments, production jigs and bespoke tooling. The role is a vital part of supporting the Part 145 MAOS and ‘C’ rating capability, ensuring efficient workflows, maintaining quality control and adhering to safety protocols.Other duties involveCalculating dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometres and vernier callipersMachining parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grindersMeasuring, examining and testing completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specificationsSetting up, adjusting and operating all the basic machine tools and specialised or advanced variation of tools in order to perform precision machining operationsStudying sample parts, drawings and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerancesRe-grinding of various drills and reamers to suit demandAdapting existing tools to suit requirementsAdhering to company and manufacturers policies and proceduresHousekeeping, maintaining cleanliness in the workshopIn order to be successful in this role the Machinist will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributesTime served toolmakerUnderstanding of jigs and fixturesConventional machining experienceGeneral machining skills, milling, turning, surface grinding etc.Knowledge of XYZ programming using lathe and milling machineKnowledge of various materials and market productsUnderstanding of workshop equipment, machinery and toolingKnowledge of MS Office applicationsRight to live and work in the UKSubject to UK security vettingIf you think this is the role for you and you have the necessary skills and attributes, please apply today or contact JMC Aviation for more details.Please note that due to the high level of applicants we will only be contacting shortlisted candidates regarding this role.For this opportunity JMC Aviation Ltd is acting as an employment agency.
