In this role you will be making a direct impact on the training and standards that affect our service to the public, making a measurable difference for vulnerable victims of crime.The core responsibilities of the role will be the design and delivery of training pertaining to I.T. applications for Police Officers and Police Staff, although you may be required to deliver training in other subjects as directed by the training supervisor. Working as part of a team you will produce, maintain and upgrade training products that meet both National and Sussex Police criteria.This post is a permanent position.Consideration will be made for applicants who wish to apply on a part time basis.Key ResponsibilitiesTo design, deliver and evaluate learning activities in order to improve the cost effectiveness and quality of staff training throughout the Force and to meet external and internal requirements e.g. QAMS, College of policing, HMIC thematic inspection recommendations. To ensure all staff are given the opportunity to develop the required competency to carry out their role within the Force by managing the learning and development of students. To consistently monitor the delivery of learning to achieve the required student levels of knowledge, skills and behaviours and where necessary to identify, challenge and influence to ensure students adjust their behaviours. To support and manage HQ learning and assessment activities to ensure the achievement of accredited packages e.g. College of Policing programmes, Personal Development Profiles. Produce lesson plans (as directed) which are to Force standard, reflect National Occupational standards and are regularly updated. Respond to any problems being experienced by the individual student and assist in identifying the cause and agreeing a suitable way forward, acting at all times in accordance with force policy. To hold tutorials with students to discuss their individual progress and where necessary, to guide them so as to enhance their rate of development to promote a learning organisation. Liaise with the HR Service Centre to ensure students are provided with appropriate pre and post course material. To recognise, supervise and challenge inappropriate behaviour displayed in the training environment in a professional manner to ensure that Force standards of behaviour are maintained. Establish effective networks with key internal and external partners to implement collaborative approaches to learning and development, as well as the overall management of their role as guest speakers. Other duties as determined by the Team leader (as are compatible with the post) Maintains professional competence and practice to be able to deliver several L&D topics using varied learning styles and to obtain technical subject matter knowledge where required to maintain training standards across the force.Skills & ExperienceRequired Skills & ExperiencePrevious training experience, either in another IT training role or in any other training or education sectors. Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals & teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports. Has the ability to work either in a small team or individually as the situation demands. Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision. Proficient in delivering training relating to IT systems utilising desktop hardware and peripherals; including specific software and operating systems; Microsoft Office applications and other specialist software/applications. The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and professional development programmes.The below criteria are desirable, but not required for the role:The role is predominantly based at Sussex Police Headquarters but some travel will be required across the Force area. Therefore, a full driving licence would be desirable. Has good working knowledge key policing IT systems, specifically relating to Niche, but also including Pronto, SmartSTORM, Holmes, PND, or PNC/LEDS.
