Job DescriptionCompany Overview Teledyne e2v is a global leader in specialized components and subsystems for medical, science, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. Our imaging sensors, developed at the Chelmsford site, have been used in major space missions such as the Hubble Telescope, Kepler, GAIA, Mars Rovers, New Horizons, and Rosetta. Space Imaging is expanding its projects to develop Front End Electronics (FEE) systems for space applications, including CMOS detectors, FEE, FPGA (VHDL), and Microprocessors, requiring high reliability for missions lasting 5 years or more. Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a Principal FPGA Engineer to join our team. The role involves working in a multidisciplinary team, understanding device operations, writing FPGA code, and developing FPGA solutions for space applications. Existing FPGA designs are primarily developed using VHDL with Microchip Libero and Xilinx Vivado. The engineer will support bid and business development activities, including reviewing technical proposals, conducting trade-off analyses, and estimating effort and costs. Essential Experience3+ years of FPGA design experience in VHDL. Proficiency with Microchip Libero and/or Xilinx Vivado. Functional verification with self-checking test benches and simulation. Timing verification using constraints and analysis. Estimating effort and defining tasks for FPGA delivery. Authoring documentation such as specifications, design documents, and test plans. Use of electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). End-to-end FPGA development, maintenance, and lifecycle management, working closely with embedded software, electronics, and systems engineers. Advantageous Skills & ExperienceExperience in spaceflight, aerospace, or defense FPGA design. Knowledge of ECSS standards and development processes. High-speed transceiver interfaces. Design techniques for high reliability and radiation environments. Requirement verification using UVVM test bench methodology. Knowledge of SpaceWire, RMAP, and CCSDS protocols. Image processing experience. Experience with SVN configuration control. Familiarity with DDR3/4 memory and AXI interfaces.
