We are inviting registered nurses, registered mental health nurses, and midwives to be sponsored for the upcoming academic year commencing in September 2025. You will be trained to become a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Health Visitor. As a student SCPHN, you will be part of Early Help and Prevention, working alongside multi-agency, voluntary, and Local Authority partners. Your training will include gaining the knowledge and skills to lead in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme pre-birth to 5 years, supporting local and national public health initiatives, and improving outcomes for our most vulnerable families and children. The programme is offered on a fixed-term basis, full-time for 52 weeks starting September 2025. The training schedule is Monday to Friday, with fixed annual leave throughout the programme. Academic studies will take place at Northumbria University, and your practice placement will be in South Tyneside Borough. Main duties of the jobTo work initially under supervision, then independently as a student health visitor with responsibility to influence the health and wellbeing of children and families to improve life chances and ensure every child has the Best Start in Life. To develop the knowledge and skills to lead the delivery of the National Healthy Child Programme through home visits, clinics, and multi-agency settings such as Family Hubs. To collaborate with a wide range of partner agencies to support children and families in need, including cared-for children and those with child protection concerns. To develop skills to become the Lead Professional for assessment, early identification, and care planning for vulnerable families and children with additional needs, including implementing targeted programmes like Early Help Plans, postnatal depression support, and Solihull behaviour management. To work in collaboration with local statutory, voluntary, and mainstream services to ensure children and families can access necessary health and support services. Successfully achieve the BSc (Hons) in Specialist Community Practitioner in Health Visiting. Develop competency in delivering health visiting services to an identified caseload. Possess a BSc (Hons) 2:2 or above, or equivalent (240 credits, Level 7 study evidence).
