This is a key role in a growing team. The Colorectal Theatres cover Elective Surgery. You will be required to work 3 x 12.5-hour shifts. Main duties of the jobResponsible for the assessment of care needs, planning, delivering, and evaluating a high standard of nursing care. Contributing to the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department, through the acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities. An accomplished communicator able to contribute, implement and evaluate clinical and professional standards. Initiating and developing evidence-based practice ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes. Ensuring the administration and documentation of drugs is in accordance with Trust policy. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesBe responsible for the management and organisation of the operative list and clinical care. Be responsible for the efficient communication of changes within the operating department to all members of the multidisciplinary theatre team. Undertake the safe and efficient transfer of patients to other hospitals. Ensure that Trust policies and guidelines for correct clinical practices are followed. Be aware of Risk Management and Clinical Governance and the implications this has on clinical practice. Ensure the theatre staff and multidisciplinary team are aware of policies and procedures relating to Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control. Report to Team Leader and or Theatre Manager any accidents, untoward incidents and complaints as soon as possible to include completion of the relevant documentation and dispatched to the appropriate department. Person specificationEducation and qualificationsFirst level registration with the NMCHCPC registration Post-registration education program related to specialty. Evidence of professional development. Working towards a degree ILS/ALS KnowledgeUp to date knowledge of relevant political and professional issues in health care. Understanding of principles of budget management Up to date knowledge of relevant, political and professional issues in health care Understanding of principles of budget management ExperienceConsiderable experience within the specialty. Mentoring and facilitating experience Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care Experience at Band 5. Knowledge of Clinical Governance & Benchmarking.
