Detailed job description and main responsibilities Key Responsibilities:Manage the CAS database and ensure that the information recorded in it is accurate and up-to-date. This includes:Recording patients on the CAS database as the referral comes in.Recording outcomes once patients have been reviewed by a consultant in CAS on the database.Book patients into the CAS diagnostic clinic on i.PM within the timescale specified by the department to meet pathway guidelines.Liaise with GPs and other referrers when necessary to obtain further information for clinicians prior to patient's review in CAS.Ensure that patients reviewed in CAS are booked in a timely fashion for any outpatient appointments and diagnostic tests, liaising with the Outpatient Department and Endoscopy.Track all patients on the CAS pathway, monitoring test results and informing clinicians for timely reviews. Liaise with clinicians on next steps.Highlight capacity issues to the clinical and managerial team that may cause delays.Upload proformas completed by consultants to Viper/Mediviewer within specified timescale.Send outcome letters to patients and GPs, including details of diagnostics and appointments.Arrange relevant kits, including blood forms and faecal calprotectin kits, to be posted to patients.Support service delivery through ordering and maintaining office supplies and pathway-specific equipment using the Trust's procurement system.Liaise directly with patients by telephone to communicate outcomes and address queries regarding the CAS.Record patient numbers and outcomes monthly, supporting the Hepatology Administration Manager with service audits.Collaborate with clinicians to manage Gastroenterology waiting lists and handle CAS-related inquiries.Work with the RTT team to meet targets, including:Completing and processing all CAS 18-week wait/TCI forms.Managing RTT pathway waiting lists for CAS patients, escalating breaches.Providing waiting list and tracking data as required.Person specification QualificationsEducated to GCSE level or equivalentCustomer service or business administration qualification to vocational level 3 or equivalent experience.Desirable criteriaPrevious experience managing patient pathwaysCommunications SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience communicating with multidisciplinary teamsExperienceMeeting deadlines involving high volumes of data within strict timeframesWorking independently or in a teamUnderstanding complex and sensitive informationKnowledgeUnderstanding of confidentiality requirementsProficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacyAwareness of deadlines and accuracy in data collectionKnowledge of administrative proceduresSkillsKeyboard accuracyProblem-solving abilitiesAnalytical and judgmental skillsPersonal SkillsFlexible and proactive approachIt is an exciting time to join Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, serving a population of around 700,000 across Bedford and Luton.
