Job Description We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for aPermanent Arboricultural Project Manager (Highways)to join our dynamicScottish Grounds Maintenanceteam inScotland . This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a range of arboriculture projects, including Ash Dieback, undertaken by Amey throughout Scotland, primarily on the NMC North-East & South-West Contracts. This role suits candidates with an arboriculture or forest management background. The ideal candidate will have keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to set and manage project objectives, including developing processes and technical solutions. What You’ll Do: Lead and manage woodland and Ash Dieback projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget. Oversee the collection of accurate data on tree and woodland assets, including condition and maintenance needs. Collaborate with data collection and GIS teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance data capture and analysis. Ensure data analysis processes are accurate and reliable, implementing quality control measures. Utilize analytical tools to extract insights from large datasets and improve data management capabilities. Perform detailed data analysis to inform management strategies. Create reports and visualizations to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare technical notes, woodland management plans, and ash dieback action plans. Evaluate felling and thinning methodologies, considering access constraints, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions. Develop operational delivery programs, monitor progress, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. Manage risks and change effectively. Accurately capture and manage delivery records. Measure works according to established methods. Provide administrative support for operational activities. Candidate Requirements: Ability to work across all of Amey’s Network Maintenance Contracts in Scotland. Proven project management and data analysis experience in arboriculture or forestry. Strong planning, execution, and monitoring skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Extensive experience with GIS/Asset Management software. Organized team player with good communication skills. Operational knowledge of thinning and felling, especially mechanized solutions. Ability to interpret complex information and contractual documents. Ability to collaborate with teams and influence outcomes. Excellent communication skills to present data effectively to diverse audiences. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related fields; Higher Diploma may be considered. Current Lantra Professional Tree Inspection certification or commitment to attain it. Desirable but not essential: Business, Project Management, Data Analytics, or Process Improvement qualifications. Experience on trunk road maintenance contracts or similar roles is advantageous. Strong entry-level candidates with relevant qualifications will also be considered.
