Job Description

We are working alongside the local Council and searching for Environmental Enforcement Officers to complement the team. These positions are initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent. Main PurposeThe main purpose of the Environment Enforcement Officer (EEO) is to assist with the effective delivery of environmental enforcement and patrol functions in accordance with all relevant statutes, guidance, policies, and procedures. The role also supports the broader environmental protection efforts as appropriate. Essential ExperiencePrevious relevant experience in an enforcement role, e.g., ex-Police, ex-Army, etc. Experience in a customer-facing role. Knowledge of environmental and dog control enforcement regulations, including Dog Control Orders, the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014. Computer skills, particularly MS Office applications. Good basic education. Relevant environmental qualification or willingness to work towards CIEH Level 2 Award in Environmental Principles and Best Practice. Driving license (patrol vehicle provided). Desirable ExperienceExperience in local authority policy enforcement. Experience working with communities and delivering educational initiatives or campaigns. Experience handling dogs. Experience in preparing prosecution files. Knowledge of the local area. Experience with camera surveillance and monitoring. PackageCompetitive pay rate. Uniform provided. 37 hours per week. Main DutiesUndertake routine patrols related to dog control and littering offences. Respond to environmental crimes and stray dog requests. Conduct recorded interviews and attend court as needed, providing witness reports. Remove or coordinate removal of litter, fly posting, and small fly tips from public land where feasible. Maintain partnerships with local agencies such as Police, Environment Agency, and Community Wardens. Operate as Duty Officer on a rota basis. Monitor CCTV footage and analyze data for enforcement and prosecution. Participate in walkabouts and weekly Community Safety Unit meetings. Perform seasonal patrols as scheduled.
