This post is an important part of our ongoing development of medical services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing Radiologists to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation. The post has arisen as a consequence of an expansion in cardiothoracic imaging service. The Trust is looking to enhance both the cardiac and lung elements of its Cardiothoracic Imaging service. The successful candidates will join a team of 27 radiologists to help deliver Diagnostic Imaging Services to the Trust and local commissioners. The candidates are required to have a subspecialty interest in Cardiothoracic imaging and associated intervention. Main duties of the jobThe workload of the successful candidate would be approximately that recommended by the Royal College of Radiologists. Help deliver imaging to support the national lung cancer pathway. Maintenance of high quality patient centred care Shared responsibility for the day to day management of the service and participation in strategic planning Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity Active participation in continuing medical education Person SpecificationQualifications / TrainingEntry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register College Fellowship (FRCR) or qualification of an equivalent level Previous ExperienceSubspecialist expertise in cardiothoracic imaging: including Lung CT, Cardiac CT, and MR level 2 trained, thoracic intervention (CT and USS Lung Biopsy), reporting of high-resolution CT and lung nodule CT work. General radiology: o Competent in plain film reporting, MRI/ CT/US (general). o Fully competent in General Radiology to partake in the on-call rota. o Take part in daytime duty sessions and reporting of emergency o CT and MRI work. Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice SkillsAble to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
