The role involves maintaining the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Stage 3 Accreditation, working closely with the Infant Feeding Co-ordinator, midwifery and neonatal teams, and external agencies.The Infant Feeding Midwife provides expert clinical support to women and babies experiencing feeding challenges within the Maternity Unit, Children’s Ward, and Community. The role includes triaging referrals to specialist Feeding and Tongue Tie Clinics and supporting multidisciplinary teaching and audits to maintain BFI accreditation.Desirable but not essential is a current Tongue Tie Qualification. The post involves promoting breastfeeding in accordance with UNICEF BFI Standards, educating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring mothers/parents have access to skilled feeding support.You will work autonomously to uphold the UNICEF Baby Friendly Stage 3 standards, develop strategies for sustainability, and work towards the BFI Gold Award. The role requires in-depth knowledge of the UNICEF standards and audit processes.The successful candidate will be an experienced practitioner responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based infant feeding support, fostering relationship-building, and supporting staff and parents in clinical settings.
