Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical)Location: Sellafield Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP)Department: CommissioningExperience, qualification, and soft skills, have you got everything required to succeed in this opportunity Find out below.About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical) to join the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) project at Sellafield. This role is vital in ensuring that all mechanical commissioning activities are delivered to the highest safety and quality standards, supporting the successful handover of systems from construction through to operation.As the Lead Commissioning Engineer, you will lead a multidisciplinary team through the testing and commissioning lifecycle, ensuring compliance, safety, and delivery to schedule.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a role model for safety, leading by example across nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety standardsLead a team of Commissioning Engineers and Technicians during all phases of mechanical commissioningPlan, manage, and supervise mechanical testing activities throughout all commissioning stagesOversee the creation and approval of commissioning test documentationOrganise and direct commissioning technicians and support staff effectivelySupervise the initiation, implementation, and resolution of Field Observation Reports (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs)Liaise with regulatory and compliance representatives to ensure proper witnessing of commissioning activitiesManage Temporary Commissioning Aids (TCAs) and ensure accurate recording and traceabilityMaintain detailed test data records in accordance with procedural and regulatory requirementsUtilise completions management systems to oversee commissioning activities and manage handovers from construction to commissioning and onwards to the clientPlan, schedule, and track work against the overall project timelineParticipate in multidiscipline design reviews and support engineering teamsPromote continuous improvement throughout the commissioning processDrive progress toward key project milestones and deadlinesEssential Experience & QualificationsTime-served apprenticeship or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)HNC (or equivalent) preferred, or a clear route to achieving qualificationDemonstrable project commissioning experience in a similar environmentHands-on experience with process commissioning involving vessels, pumps, and associated mechanical systemsIOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)Valid CSCS CardTools & Software ExperienceGo Completions or similar completions management systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
