Job Description

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be exclusively working with an organisation in Peterlee on the appointment of a Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis. Working in a supportive and friendly procurement team of 7 people, this role will manage inbound supply, supplier relationships and stock management. Working hours are Monday to Friday and can be flexible either 08.00-16.30 / 08.30-17.00 depending on preference. They offer hybrid working of 1 day per week working from home and there is a bonus scheme included post-probationary period. CIPS funding is on offer as part of the package and holidays are 20 days plus bank holidays. The Role: * Manage the purchase and replenishment of stock * Manage the direct supply chain of the business maximising incentives, structuring deliveries, and minimising the cost of stock movements. * Understand depot stock requirements, rotations, and supply patterns. * Forecasting for seasonality spikes * Key point of contact for major accounts from a stock perspective * Negotiate with all departments and depots to achieve effective stock movements throughout the business * Constant liaising with sales, warehouse and finance departments regarding delivery progress, issues, and requirements * Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc. * Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation. * Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory, with a high degree of forecasting ahead of seasonal variations * Ensuring that all listed products meet the required quality standards and specifications requirements * Working to improve purchasing systems and processes. * To enhance, progress and leverage supplier relationships * Deliver credible, insight led & actionable recommendations to support the growth of the business * Report KPI’s to the business at regular intervals * Manage the direct supply chain of the business maximising incentives, structuring deliveries, and minimising the cost of stock movements * Key point of contact for key customer accounts The Person: * Ideally 3 years' plus in a purchasing role * A ‘can do’ attitude and positive approach * Dynamic and creative with analytical integrity * Forward thinking and proactive * Key eye for detail for reporting and analysis * Logical thinker with excellent organisational skills * Ability to lead by example * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. * Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
