We are seeking experienced and skilled civils operatives (individuals/teams). YOU MUST BE BASED LOCAL TO THE READING AREA to work on this framework opportunity. From the depot in Reading works will cover Reading to Oxford up to Bicester and as far as Bath-Melksham and everything in between. Individuals/Teams are also required for project works across the UK - you must be happy to work away from home if and when required (accommodation and daily subsistence are provided where this is the case). The Role The role incorporates but is not limited to: * Maintenance of safe site working practices and behaviours at all times * Chapter 8 site set up - sign lighting and guarding (and maintenance throughout the working day) * Identification of risks and completion of daily point of work risk assessments * Daily plant and vehicle checks prior to starting work * Safe excavation (machine/hand digging - HSG47) * Installation of utilities (electrical bias preferable) * Backfill (using proper compaction techniques) * Reinstatement (in accordance with your competency, training and experience) * Safe and proper operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated * Attendance for training as required, to maintain knowledge and development of new skills * Reporting of hazards, injuries, accidents and near misses * Maintenance of clean and tidy work areas at all times Other desirable skills: * Cable pulling * Ability to build concrete plinths (feeder pillars and substation bases) * Concrete reinstatement works * Asphalt laying Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience * Minimum of 5 years provable experience in the civils/groundwork industry * Able to read construction drawings * Valid first aid certification * Relevant machine tickets to utilise provided plant * Full, clean UK Drivers Licence * CSCS * CPCS/NPORS card * SHEA Power * Winch and cable pulling trained * Relevant NRSWA tickets if working on public highway Competencies and Characteristics * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Hard working and committed to quality outputs * Smart in appearance with full adherence to PPE requirements * Clean and tidy workers and be professional at all times Personal Development For the company to reach its’ goals, it is essential that the team continues to develop their skills which in turn will open more opportunities for everyone.
