Mechanical Engineer (Permanent) Location: Hessle, East Yorkshire with the flexibility of hybrid working Reporting to: Lead Mechanical Engineer Role Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer at OSL, youll be at the forefront of designing and developing mechanical engineering solutions for a wide array of Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas and Clean Energy Alternative projects. This is a hands-on role where youll make a significant impact by providing technical support, contributing to the design process, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. Your creativity and innovative thinking will be valued as you contribute to design reviews, offer technical insights, and ensure quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical expertise and mechanical engineering support to the team, ensuring high-quality, reliable outcomes. Develop mechanical specifications for critical plant equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors. Collaborate with multi-disciplined design teams, offering technical input and support from a mechanical engineering perspective. Oversee the verification of subcontractor design and equipment deliverables, ensuring alignment with project standards. Act as the clients point of contact, clarifying requirements and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project. Maintain the quality of project deliverables, balancing timelines and budgets without compromising on excellence. Bring innovative, out-of-the-box thinking to design reviews, helping to shape the direction of our projects. Conduct site-based surveys, as-built exercises, and constructability reviews to support project execution. Participate in FATs and SATs, ensuring that projects meet our high standards and exceed client expectations. Promote and embody OSLs core values, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental care are upheld. A BEng/BSc or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering. At least 6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering within a relevant industry. Proven ability to drive projects to successful completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Expertise in designing and specifying static and rotating equipment, such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers. Solid experience in quality control and assurance for engineering deliverables. Previous experience providing site support for fabrication or installation processes. Familiarity with stress analysis and simulation software such as Caesar II and PV Elite. Offshore experience and certifications (e.g., Experience with the fabrication and installation of mechanical equipment or piping systems. Skilled in 3D design and modeling methods within the mechanical discipline.
