We combine projects across Shropshire (including Telford & Wrekin) with advocacy and campaigning to restore nature and to engage people. We manage over 40 nature reserves and have more than 50 staff, 300 volunteers, and over 9000 members. SWT is an autonomous charity, but we are increasingly working collectively, as part of The Wildlife Trusts (TWT), to ensure that our local actions have a national impact and help to address global issues. We are looking for two conscientious individuals to lead on the management of reserves across Shropshire, ensuring they are in good ecological condition and help to develop them as safe & inspiring places for public access, education, research and demonstration. Youll support colleagues and potentially line manage placements and junior roles, and liaise with volunteers, contractors and colleagues across the Trust to deliver priority works on your reserves. Good working relationships with neighbouring landowners and partners will be vital to ensure a quick response to any reported issues. With a meticulous approach to work, you will maintain accurate inspection reports and surveys, ensuring safety for visitors and managing budgets for your allocated reserves. What were looking for: To be successful, youll have experience of habitat and estate management including inspections, planning and directing work and will be able to demonstrate a track record of managing projects for wildlife, including budget management. Youll be confident and approachable, able to provide support and mentoring to colleagues and inspire a passion for wildlife and nature to those around you. Youll be accustomed to managing and motivating volunteer groups and supervising contractors. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence. Please note, evening and weekend work may be required from time to time. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu of hours worked will be given.
