Royal Free is recruiting for a Head of Finance This role supports the Royal Free Business Unit and is ideal for an ambitious, dynamic candidate seeking a challenging position that offers exposure to working within a large, evolving acute trust group.The Trust is expanding its group model, with the finance department undergoing transformation to develop a best-in-class Group Finance function focused on operational financial targets and stakeholder expectations.About the Royal Free London Group The group recently expanded following the merger with North Middlesex Hospital NHST and now includes four acute hospitals: Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, and North Middlesex. The Barnet Business Unit operates with its own leadership, managing delivery, quality, risk, and performance.Royal Free Hospital itself is a large facility with over 600 beds, an operating expenditure of over £700m, and more than 5,000 WTE staff, providing a wide range of acute and specialist services across key clinical priorities.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop productive partnerships with other functions to drive profitability and investment returns, supporting the group strategy through financial planning.Maintain a reporting line to the Director of Financial Performance, collaborating closely with divisional and business unit management using professional judgment.Drive financial productivity improvements within divisions, advising on efficiency plans.Assist directors, managers, and clinicians in understanding financial information related to their budgets.Support commercial propositions and oversee financial management of key contracts, advising leadership on opportunities and risks.Lead the business partnering team, acting as a critical interface between central finance and the business unit, fostering a high-performance culture.Ensure delivery of the annual planning/budget cycle and maintain strong financial control across the business unit.Contribute to the delivery of the Financial Improvement Plan (FIP) in a financially challenged environment, influencing and collaborating with business leaders.About the Trust The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and most innovative, caring for over 1.6 million patients across three hospitals, with extensive services including A&E, maternity, and diagnostics.We offer excellent career opportunities, flexible working, and comprehensive benefits to support your professional growth and work-life balance.Additional Information For more details, visit.The post holder will support the Director of Financial Performance and the executive team to develop and deliver strategic, operational, and financial plans aligned with the business unit’s objectives, including leading the business partnering team and ensuring financial control and delivery of the Financial Improvement Plan in a challenging environment.This advert closes on Sunday 29 Jun 2025.#J-18808-Ljbffr
