Contract Opportunity: FPGA Design Engineer (Xilinx / VHDL) Some On-Site (North East UK) + Optional International Travel 36 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Immediate Start AvailableCheck below to see if you have what is needed for this opportunity, and if so, make an application asap.Were working with an innovative client in the instrumentation and sensing sector who are seeking a highly skilled Contract FPGA Engineer to support the development of advanced measurement and data acquisition systems.This is a technically focused role, ideal for an engineer with deep experience in VHDL and Xilinx toolchains, and a preference for algorithm development and real-time processing. Key Responsibilities:Develop FPGA-based systems using VHDL on Xilinx platforms (e.g., Zynq, Kintex)Implement and optimise signal processing and control algorithms for instrumentationCollaborate with hardware and embedded software teamsConduct simulation, testing, and lab-based validation Requirements:Extensive hands-on experience with Xilinx FPGA design tools (Vivado, IP Integrator, etc.)Proficiency in VHDL and the complete FPGA development cycleStrong background in data acquisition, signal processing, or real-time controlExperience in instrumentation, sensing, or scientific applications is a strong plus Travel Requirements:Occasional on-site work in the North East UK for integration and testing phasesOptional international travel to Malaysia to support field trials expenses covered Nice to Have:Background in physics, instrumentation, or test & measurement systemsFamiliarity with Matlab, Python, or scripting for test automationComfortable with cross-functional engineering collaborationThis is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team on a cutting-edge instrumentation project.
