If you have strong media instincts, enjoy working with journalists, and want your work to make a difference, this could be a great fit.The role Youll be part of a busy communications team supporting a public sector organisation thats focused on improving communities across the region. The role involves finding and sharing stories that show the impact of their work, building good relationships with the media, and helping shape the public conversation.Youll work closely with senior leaders, including the Mayor, to promote key messages and respond to media enquiries. Some days will be fast-paced and reactive, others will be about planning ahead and building a pipeline of positive stories.What youll be doingCreating and sharing news stories across print, digital and broadcast mediaPitching stories to regional and national journalistsResponding to media enquiries and managing press issues as they ariseWorking with colleagues across communications, policy, and public affairsHelping develop media briefings and campaign contentTracking and reporting on media coverageWhat were looking forStrong writing skills and a clear, confident communication styleExperience working with the media and placing storiesGood judgement and the ability to work quickly under pressureSomeone who can build relationships with journalists and colleagues alikeKnowledge of public sector or political environments is a plus, but not essential
