Machine Operator Permanent Grade 2 - £24,027 - £25,992 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week Location:Digital Mail Centre Working Hours: Shifts between 7 AM – 7 PM, including weekends, bank holidays, and out-of-office hours as required. Role Overview: As a Print and Mail Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for handling and processing commercial printers, mail inserters, scanners, data entry, and other print/post equipment using in-house software. The production workload varies daily, requiring adaptability and a commitment to delivering high-quality service with consistency. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain print and mail processing equipment efficiently. Ensure accurate data entry and scanning, following established procedures. Maintain high-quality standards in all tasks, ensuring precision and reliability. Communicate updates effectively with team leaders, colleagues, and external engineers. Adhere to Digital Mail Centre (DMC) ISO guidelines and Birmingham City Council (BCC) code of conduct. Assist with training new staff and applying learned skills effectively in the workplace. Requirements: 1. Physical Fitness & Flexibility: Ability to handle physically demanding tasks in a semi-warehouse environment. Must be comfortable standing or sitting for long periods while operating high-speed machinery. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as required. 2. Professionalism & Communication: Maintain a professional approach at all times. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external engineers. 3. Technical & Organisational Skills: Strong focus and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload efficiently. Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic numerical skills to support data entry and processing tasks. 4. Training & Development: Willingness to undergo training relevant to the role.
