We have a fantastic opportunity for aPermanent Highways Maintenance Operativeto join ourArea 12 Highways Maintenance Teambased in Broughton.Collaborating closely with our client,National Highways , Amey takes pride in delivering top-tier maintenance and response services, catering to the extensive network across Yorkshire and Humberside.Our responsibilities encompass all routine and cyclic maintenance operations on the trunk roads and motorways, covering an impressive expanse that includes 1,650 km of motorway, 476 km of dual carriageway trunk roads, 179 km of single carriageway trunk roads, and 1,963 structures.Our team of over 200 Amey people provides vital maintenance and incident response to keep the travelling public moving.TheHighways Maintenance Operativeplays an important role in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works, including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils works, litter picking, etc. The role also involves winter and emergency call-out standby duties.The standard hours of work are 45 per week, consisting of day and night shifts.You will be responsible for:Maintaining high technical standards.Attending project and work briefings as required.Driving/operating vehicles and plant requiring general and specialist skills, including vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g., oil and water checks), and cleaning.Carrying out all aspects of highway maintenance works, including routine and cyclic maintenance, minor civils works, litter picking, and winter maintenance operations.Participating in emergency call-out operations.Ensuring safety of yourself and others, complying with health and safety legislation, and operating safely to protect the public.Performing vehicle checks prior to shifts and correctly filling defect books.Recording drivers' hours.Allocating and capturing time and resource utilization in line with the operated allocation system.Keeping records, completing necessary paperwork, and liaising with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, police, the public, and clients.We want to hear from you if you have:12D RTM Operative (Mod T1/T2)Abrasive WheelsBanksman SlingerCAT Scanner (Highways)Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE)Environmental Awareness Toolbox TalkPersonal Highways Safety ManualHandling skillsSelf-motivated and proactive in delivering solutionsGood communication skills12AB High-Speed Roads Traffic Management qualification (preferably)HGV Class 2 (preferably)CPCCSCSWhat we can offer you:Career Development- Exceptional development and progression planPension- Generous pension scheme with company contributionsHolidays- Minimum 24 days holiday plus bank holidaysChoices- Flexible benefits scheme including additional leave, cycle to work, charity giving, and gym membershipSave with Amey- Access to discounts from leading retailers, healthcare, and more via our online voucher portalSocial Value- 2 community involvement days per year for volunteering and fundraising opportunitiesApplication GuidanceAmey is committed to inclusion and diversity.
