This is a rare opportunity to take on a director-level role that combines hands-on technical involvement with team leadership and strategic oversight.The company works across the UK, supporting clients through the planning and development process with a focus on delivering environmentally sound, technically robust, and commercially viable solutions.Your RoleAs Director of Water Environment, youll be responsible for the operational and strategic direction of a multidisciplinary team working across flood risk, surface water drainage, and peatland hydrology.You'll oversee client delivery, internal operations, and business developmentensuring technical quality, commercial success, and continuous improvement.What Youll Be DoingLeading a team of specialists across water-related disciplines, providing both technical input and managerial oversightSupporting company-wide strategy in collaboration with other directors and senior leadershipManaging project delivery, client relationships, financial reporting, and team resourcingDriving quality assurance, innovation, and professional development within the teamDeveloping new business opportunities and representing the company externallyMaintaining a hands-on role in complex or high-value projects where your expertise is most valuableFostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team cultureAbout You10+ years' experience in environmental consultancy, ideally with technical grounding in one or more of: flood risk, drainage design, or peatland restorationChartered membership of a relevant institution (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, IEMA)A strong understanding of relevant UK legislation, guidance, and policyDemonstrated success in client-facing roles, business development, and team managementExperience working on major planning applications, DCOs, or nationally significant infrastructure projectsClear, confident communicator with a collaborative leadership styleWhats on OfferSalary of 60,000+, depending on experience25 days holiday + bank holidays (with additional days increasing with length of service)Very flexible working hours and hybrid home/office working optionsGenerous CPD allowance (20 days per year) and paid professional subscriptionsApplication ProcessTo express interest or request more details in confidence, please send your CV and a brief cover letter to: connor.sandison@edenscott.com
