Overview: Buckingham Futures is working with a forward-thinking local authority to appoint a proactive Street Scene Officer . This role is pivotal in improving the visual quality and safety of public spaces by addressing environmental crimes and anti-social behaviour through a balance of education and enforcement. Key Responsibilities: Respond to reports of and proactively identify offences including littering, dog fouling, fly-tipping, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and illegal street trading. Engage with residents and businesses to raise awareness and encourage responsible environmental behaviour. Serve fixed penalty notices and prepare enforcement files where necessary for prosecution. Work closely with partner agencies, including police and waste contractors, to tackle persistent offenders. Monitor and report on environmental conditions across neighbourhoods, suggesting service improvements. Maintain comprehensive records and evidence, including written logs, statements, and photographic evidence. Contribute to campaigns and events aimed at improving environmental awareness and civic pride. Essential Skills & Experience: Experience in an environmental enforcement, waste management, or community safety role. Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Environmental Protection Act and Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act. Confident communicator with experience educating the public and conducting enforcement interviews. IT-literate with the ability to manage reports and enforcement data digitally.
