Job Title: Finance ManagerPeterborough office: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in the Peterborough office, 3–4 days remote working) Full time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week) Retained assignment via Broster BuchananBroster Buchanan are delighted to be partnering with Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) as they look to hire an all-round Finance Manager position.BackgroundAPF has grown significantly over the past five years, with our support services reaching over 10,000 people affected by pulmonary fibrosis (PF) each year. We have ambitious plans for further growth across our services and to fund more ground-breaking research. As we enter a new five-year strategic period, we aim to grow our income to £3-5 million, which will underpin our exciting plans to support more people affected by pulmonary fibrosis and prevent lives being lost to this devastating disease. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Manager to ensure the financial health and sustainability of APF during this exciting period of growth. This is a pivotal role for an experienced finance professional who is passionate about using their skills to make a difference. You will be responsible for providing strong financial leadership, ensuring robust financial management, and supporting the delivery of our ambitious strategy. Role Responsibilities Ensure the smooth operation of APF’s day to day financial procedures, including maintaining bank accounts, bank reconciliations, invoice payment and credit card transactions. To be responsible for the monthly production of the management accounts and donor reporting, producing accurate and timely reporting, recognising income and expenditure in accordance with the SORP and any contractual obligations.To reconcile the balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Manage the finance officer and ensure internal controls and procedures are adhered to across the organisation. Streamline and control expenditure across the charity. Taking the lead for effective procurement practices and cost savings. Produce the annual budget process and forecasting with the Director of Finance & Operations and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring income and expenditure is correctly allocated between restricted and unrestricted, identify assumptions for income receipts and sensitivities (assurance / risk rationale). Maintain the financial plan which underpins the organisational strategy and produce financial modelling as required. Engage stakeholders across APF to further the understanding of charity finances and targets pivotal to achieving the financial plan.Maintain the cashflow, reviewing income receipts and expenditure payments to improve accuracy and better manage day to day cash requirements. Year-end accounts production and liaison with auditors.Maintain & develop strong financial controls.Suitable applicantsIdeally you will be Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with consideration to qualified by experience.Understanding of UK charity finance regulations and compliance Ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and risk management skills Effective communicator and relationship builder across teams and stakeholders Organised, detail-focused, and able to meet deadlines under pressure Understanding of ethical funding considerations and sector challenges RemunerationSalary: £40,000-£45,000Along with a generous holiday allowance, the position offers flexible hours, option to take ‘time off in lieu’ for extra hours worked, discounted gym membership and free membership of our Employee Assistance Package Individual training budget.Diversity Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis strives to be an organisation of equity and inclusion.
