As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re addressing our security risks and improving our security culture. You will be a role model for security, promoting a positive culture and cultivating good behaviours. Your role will involve protecting the organisation from security threats that could impact our people, data, information, or physical assets. In this role, you will: Help the Corporate Security Manager oversee and mitigate security risks. Provide leadership and guidance on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained security responsibilities. Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to ensure risks are understood, assessed, and mitigated. Provide assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors. Partner with Defra group Security to ensure security strategies, policies, and processes are in place. Lead initiatives to enhance our security culture through training, communications, and engagement. Organise governance meetings to oversee security-related decisions. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed about the latest developments. The team You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, focused on protecting and empowering the organisation. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency. Experience and skills required The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential: An understanding of broader influences on organisational security to support continuous improvement. Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire others. Ability to build effective partnerships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks. Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands. Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communication, engagement, and implementing business change solutions is advantageous. This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest office in England with the option to work from home. Some national travel for meetings will be necessary.
