Ramboll invites you to apply for a Rail Engineering Advanced Technician Apprenticeship in our Rail Systems Team, assisting in delivering Rail Systems design services across various projects. Full support will be provided to achieve a Level 4 qualification (Rail Engineering), typically through week block releases, establishing a strong foundation for a successful career. The Apprenticeship Programme Duration, Cost, and Qualifications The academic course lasts 4 years. The Apprenticeship cost is covered by Ramboll through the Apprenticeship Levy. Qualifications to be awarded Level 4 Rail Engineering Apprenticeship Upon completion, the apprentice will meet the requirements for registration as an Engineering Technician with relevant Professional Engineering Institutions. Post-apprenticeship, there may be opportunities for career progression within Rail Systems or further education through additional apprenticeships. Ramboll plans to deliver this Apprenticeship with Elev8 Training. You will typically work five days a week, with study in week blocks approximately once a month via lectures, labs, tutorials, workshops, practical sessions, and online activities, complemented by personal research. This schedule is subject to confirmation at enrollment. At the end of the apprenticeship, an End Point Assessment will evaluate your knowledge, skills, and behaviors acquired during the program. You will join our Rail Systems department As a Rail Engineering Advanced Technician Apprentice, you will be part of a dynamic, fast-growing team in Frome. You will work alongside industry experts applying cutting-edge technology in ground and related structure design. On-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals will support your development. Your key tasks and responsibilities will include: Applying scientific, technical, and engineering principles to railway signaling design, maintenance, and construction both in the UK and internationally. Understanding safe working practices, regulations, and risk management. Designing and developing engineering solutions, considering failure modes and causes. Managing engineering projects effectively using project management principles. Gaining knowledge of the railway system and its components. Working towards obtaining an IRSE Signalling Designer’s license with mentorship from experienced engineers. Performing complex analysis using computer modeling; interpreting technical materials. Communicating engineering concepts through presentations, reports, sketches, drawings, and infographics. Recognizing third-party requirements and operational interfaces. Identifying and mitigating health 'safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risks. Monitoring design implementation throughout the project lifecycle from conception to operation. Your initial qualifications should include: Achieved or be on track for 3 A Levels or equivalent, including Maths at grade C or higher. Five GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or higher. A keen interest in the Built Environment. A fully completed application.
