Company Description Phaze is a mobile application designed to mitigate the impact of circadian disruptions on physical and mental performance.Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Make sure to read the full description below.Role Description We are looking for a part-time, remote Algorithm Developer to join our scientific team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in algorithm development, with research experience in chronobiology or sleep. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the core algorithm that drives the Phaze application. The candidate does not need to be UK based but there is a requirement to be able to work typical UK operating hours.Education and Experience The ideal candidate will possess: A Bachelor’s degree and/or a postgraduate qualification in a human science discipline such as Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Physiology, or Sports Science. Alternatively, a degree in a field that requires a deep understanding of complex algorithms with practical applications to human biology, such as Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science. As a minimum, a candidate should have a qualification in one area and significant experience in the other. Experience of developing in PHP on Linux (preferred not essential)Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with the development team to ensure the algorithm, which is central to the Phaze app, performs optimally. Conduct rigorous testing and troubleshooting of the algorithm to identify and resolve any issues. Validate the algorithm using scientific research methodologies to ensure its effectiveness. Refine variables and parameters to optimise the algorithm’s performance. Develop and integrate new components into the algorithm to enhance user experience. Modify the current algorithm or develop new algorithms specifically tailored for shift workers. Prepare detailed reports on the algorithm’s functionality and theoretical foundations.Fee and Role Structure Compensation: £175 - £250 per day + significant share equity package (to be discussed and based on candidate suitability). Commitment: Initially required for two days per week, with the potential for the role to expand to a full-time position by 2026.Note:For all involvement in scientific projects for publication, you will be offered co-authorship on papers.
