Job Description

University of Southampton Library service is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and proactive Principal Library Assistant to work as part of our small research data and intellectual property (RD& IP) teams. You will engage with staff and students to provide effective and efficient support in the areas of research data, theses, copyright and intellectual property.The roleThe Post-holder Willanswer/triage queries and resolve problems from students, colleagues and external users, mediate the deposition of research data into the institutional repository, following workflows and evaluating datasets, liaising with researchers to ensure that datasets are suitable for the repository, manage the Library’s day-to-day workflow for the final submission of theses, liaising with students, faculties and doctoral college as required, prepare reports, review workflows and analysis data to ensure operational effectiveness, supervise the assignment and registering of DOIs for University of Southampton outputs, help plan and run training events as well as design training materials tailored to student and staff needs, line manage a Senior Librarian Assistant within the RD & IP team.About YouYou must be able to work with minimal supervision, organise workflows to agreed targets, take the initiative in problem-solving, determine priorities and meet deadlines. You will have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. You will be required to provide support to team colleagues and direct reports in day-to-day activities.
