Job Description

Berry Recruitment are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer/EC&I Engineer to join our client's team in Knaresborough. Please note - to be successful you must be certified to deal with 400+ volts. Salary: Daily rate of £300 - £500 (Inside IR35). Contract Length: Initially 3 months with potential to extend. Main Purpose: As an EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, developing and optimising all electrical, control and instrumentation systems. You will provide technical expertise to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance, and will actively contribute to resolving EC&I issues, delivering preventative maintenance, and ensuring regulatory instrumentation testing is consistently completed to a high standard. Responsibilities: Act as the electrical duty holder for the site, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Own and maintain site control and instrumentation systems including SCADA, PCS7 and Safety Instrumented Systems. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), calibration, and compliance testing of all instruments in line with statutory and operational requirements. Support and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement actions arising from investigations. Assist in plant shutdowns/outages, ensuring EC&I work is safely completed on time. Maintain accurate and timely records in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Develop and review engineering procedures, risk assessments and method statements. Deliver and test software modules and logic systems, including modifications to site PLCs or automation systems. Collaborate closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams, providing guidance and support. Liaise with external contractors for specialist works and commissioning where required. Participate in and support the plant's HSEQ initiatives, including Near Miss reporting and safety audits.Qualifications ONC/HNC in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) Recognised EC&I Apprenticeship Certificate in Safety Instrumented Systems (e.g. TÜV, or equivalent)Skills Proficient in Siemens PCS7, SCADA, and PLCs (or equivalent systems) Ability to conduct detailed fault diagnostics and software troubleshooting Familiar with relevant regulations: BS7671, PUWER, DSEAR, and Functional Safety Standards (IEC 61511) Strong planning, documentation, and reporting skills Competent in Microsoft Office, CMMS systems, and engineering tools Computer literate and able to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and MSExperience Experience in EC&I roles within industrial environments such as energy, waste, utilities, or manufacturing Demonstrated ability to provide technical mentoring and leadership within teams Proven experience managing instrumentation and electrical systems through life-cycle maintenance Working knowledge of compliance frameworks and documentation standardsIf this role is of interest please apply now, all applications are reviewed daily!
