Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing and very successful construction business business on the appointment of a Senior Buyer. This is a full-time permanent position which offers a long-term career with the chance to move upwards in line with their expansion plans.As the Senior Buyer, you will assist in the procurement of all Mechanical & Electrical material & contracted works for all live projects, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement. Benefits include:Competitive pension scheme.Life assurance scheme.Health cash plan.30 days Annual LeaveIn your new role:Source, negotiate, and procure mechanical and electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.Identify and select reliable suppliers and contractors to support ongoing live projects.Ensure all mechanical components comply with technical specifications and quality standards, addressing any concerns in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to guarantee product compatibility.Manage the delivery of materials and plant to site professionally and efficiently by maintaining an informative draw-off schedule to ensure availability when required.Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with overall company objectives.Prepare reports detailing procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.Liaise with the commercial lead to ensure project expenditures remain within budget.Build, manage, and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and construction professionals, including site operatives.Ensure timely clearance of supplier invoices to maintain the company’s standard of strong supplier relations.What you will need to succeed:3 years' recent experience, buying mechanical and/or electrical components.Experience in strategic buying i.e., contract negotiation, supplier sourcing and auditing.Demonstrable experience in producing high value cost reductionsAbility to work on multiple projects working to strict deadlines.Desirable:Experience in the M&E sectorFor a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with our supply chain specialist Michael Irwin today!
