Job Description

Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker Job Purpose: The Mental Health Support Worker will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals with mental health needs. This role involves working closely with service users to promote their recovery, independence, and well-being, while ensuring their safety and dignity. Key Responsibilities: * Deliver personalised support plans that reflect the individual needs, choices, and goals of service users. * Support service users in their daily living activities, including personal care, medication, meal preparation, and community access. * Build trusting relationships with service users, offering emotional support, guidance, and companionship. * Monitor and record progress, reporting any concerns or changes in mental health to the relevant healthcare professionals. * Encourage participation in social and recreational activities to promote inclusion and well-being. * Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support. * Adhere to safeguarding procedures and promote the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals in your care. * Assist in crisis situations, applying de-escalation techniques and following agreed intervention strategies. * Maintain accurate records, including care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports. * Uphold confidentiality, dignity, and respect at all times in accordance with policies and procedures. Essential Skills and Experience: * Experience in providing support to individuals with mental health needs or other complex needs. * Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays. * Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and person-centred care principles. * Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting individuals through their recovery journey. Desirable but not essential * NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care * Mandatory training in areas such as medication administration, safeguarding, first aid, and de-escalation (can be provided by employer). * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. * Experience working in supported living or residential care settings
