Allen Lane is proud to be supporting the London Borough of Newham in their search to appoint an Assistant Director of Technology on a permanent basis. This is a truly unique opportunity to play a key role in the evolution of Newhams newly created Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) service, shaping the technical direction of the function whilst breaking down silos and working across traditional boundaries to deliver exceptional results. All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.If youre outcome-focused, passionate about digital transformation and are looking for a role in which youll feel empowered to innovate, then wed love to hear from you.The roleAs the Assistant Director of Technology you will:Oversee the councils entire technology function including infrastructure, engineering, business systems and service deliverySet and implement technology strategy and standards, driving innovation and digital transformation whilst ensuring robust service delivery and operational excellenceLead cultural change to embed digital ways of working across the organisationDrive the adoption of modern technology practices, promoting agile methodologies and cloud-first approaches.Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks for technology deliveryLead on technology initiatives, identifying and evaluating emerging technologiesBe accountable for technology security and resilience, ensuring appropriate measures are in place to protect council systemsKey skills requiredAs an Assistant Director of Technology you will have:Extensive experience in leading large-scale technology functionsA deep understanding of public sector technology challengesSignificant stakeholder management experience in a complex environmentA proven track record of service delivery and operational excellenceA real passion for innovation and continuous improvementStrong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and empowerA background in delivering significant change & transformation from both a technology and culture perspectiveWhat you get in returnA salary between 75,000 - 95,000 plus benefits which include the local government pension scheme, 31 days annual leave and much more!How to applyPlease submit your CV and a supporting statement (no longer than 1,250 words) explaining how your personal skills, qualities and experience make you suitable for the role, with particular reference to the essential criteria.
