If you're an experienced plant engineer seeking a permanent role, join us as an Engineer in Milton Keynes. You'll lead work on Mobile and Fixed Plant assets, ensuring their design, performance, and compliance meet industry and regulatory standards.About the role (External)About the team...The Plant Team within Network Rail's Technical Authority operates to ensure the reliability and compliance of the railway's essential equipment and machinery. This specialised group comprises experts proficient in diverse fields, from engineering to regulatory compliance, involving design principles, maintenance, and safety of all plant-related assets across the network. Their pivotal role includes setting standards, conducting assessments, managing competency, leading plant working groups, assurance and product acceptance activities. Implementing innovative solutions to optimise performance while adhering to stringent safety protocols is another key aspect. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements and industry best practices, the Plant Team within Network Rail's Technical Authority upholds the highest standards, ensuring a robust and reliable railway infrastructure that caters to the evolving needs of modern transportation systems.What does the average day look like?We are seeking an experienced Engineer who is not only technically proficient within the Mobile and Fixed Plant asset categories, but also passionate about driving positive change within the plant discipline. If you have experience in competency, assurance, accident and incident investigations, policy development, Plant operations, design and strategic planning, you're exactly who we need!On an average day, you'll act as the go-to expert in your specialist area, offering technical advice and best practice guidance. Your work will involve supporting incident investigations, analysing technical issues, and assessing the capability and performance of designs and options. You'll help deliver activities in line with Network Rail policies, legislation, and international standards, while contributing to the development and implementation of operational processes. From supporting strategy and product development to identifying defects and managing corrective actions, your role will be varied and impactful. You'll also conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and evaluate technical data to ensure asset reliability. Information management, engineering verification, and record-keeping are part of your routine, and you may also lead or support the technical lead as a Delivery Manager for specific projects, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality targets.Who are we looking for?Are you an experienced engineer ready for your next challenge? We're seeking a motivated professional with a relevant HNC/HND (or equivalent experience) and strong engineering background to bring their expertise to our team in Milton Keynes. Ideally, the successful candidate will have knowledge of both Mobile and Fixed Plant assets. You should understand industry standards, safety systems, risk assessments along with knowledge of Plant competency and compliance. A degree, IEng status, project management skills, software systems such as Power BI or railway experience are a bonus.
