Job Description

A critical position in the global training department’s ability to deliver high quality Training Material, Online Learning and Marketing information. This role will be critical in ensuring alignment of terminology and standards across the department.This role supports the Training & Development Consultancy pillar of the Global Training and Development department. This role involves delivering quality assurance activity required to ensure highly accurate training material and online learning solutions are delivered to our customers, as such an exceptionally high standard of English is required.The role will also support with administration tasks such as the creation of Purchase Orders, writing copy for marketing material and other aspects of the day to day running of the department to ensure smooth operation.Quality Assurance Duties to be carried out independently:Significant quality assurance activities to include review and editing of TNA report and outputs, training material, storyboards and eLearning content and any other appropriate material to ensure accuracy and consistency in terminology, style and approach.Linguistic and terminological review of editorial content based on the editorial guide, ensuring consistency across the department.Set up and management of the Smiths Detection terminology and abbreviation database to include communication with wider departments to align terminology globally.Maintaining the online learning style guide and training material (eLearning and Classroom Based training) and templates process.Publishing content on completion by the Training & Development Team, ensuring that old versions of outputs are effectively archived.Support with terminological quality assurance, ensuring wider department are using consistent terminology – maintenance of terminology guideReview and QA of eLearning material, following the style guide and focussing on spelling, grammar, learner experience and functionality.Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.Review and ensure adherence to the Smiths Detection Online Training Naming Convention.Manage configuration controls for Training & Development outputs.Administration Duties to be carried out independently:Ensuring effective system storage of completed documents to include monitoring of the online team’s Teams channel to maintain a tidy storage system.Ensuring Technical references are up to date, working with global centres of excellence.Creation and maintenance of an online learning database.Updating of the Global Training Catalogue.Creation of online learning products data sheets in line with the editorial guide and terminology database.Creating, owning and managing of Training Department templates for standard outputs, ensuring these are saved in a central repository and reviewed routinely.Processing translation requests using external provider to include obtaining cost estimates, creating orders, raising Purchase Orders, and completing initial review on translations received to ensure quality where required.Managing and updating the Online Team’s SharePoint site to include routine updates of sales enablement materialManagement of the centralised image, video and asset repository for the Training & Document departmentAttend, minute and contribute to business meetings across a wide range of market areas, stakeholder groups and global audiences.Conduct any other tasks deemed appropriate for the role as identified by Line Manager or Department lead.QualificationsTechnical Knowledge and Skills:Education:An English Degree (desired), or exceptionally high standards of English (essential)Copywriting, Marketing or Quality Assurance / Administration certifications also consideredKnowledge/Skills:Quality Assurance skills with a high level of attention to detailCopywriting knowledge and experienceA second language is desirable, but not essentialA high level of organisation skills with the ability to manage many tasks concurrently.Experience in or knowledge of working within a global organisationExpert level of knowledge in the use of Microsoft WordStrong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.Knowledge of JSP101 desirable, but not essential.General Competencies:The ability and motivation to persistently pursue and achieve exceptional quality standards which drive the business forward.The ability to engage, challenge and work effectively with others across the globe.The ability to build an effective network of relationships internally.Is self-motivated and able to manage own workload and work independently with confidence.Has a good understanding of terminology and experience in working with and maintaining terminology databases.Good basic technical understanding and a willingness to learn new information and technical products.Good knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
