Project Engineer / Project ManagerAll candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.Medway, KentFull-time, PermanentOverview:Our client provides industrial machinery installation, removal, relocation and mechanical maintenance services to customers in a wide range of industries. Operating primarily in the Southeast but also working regularly throughout the rest of the UK (therefore, some overnight stays away will be required), they take pride in providing a first-class service for all their customers, whether for a single machine movement or full multi-disciplined project. Each job is different and has its own unique challenges, which keeps their work interesting and varied.Their primary interest is in the UK manufacturing sector; however, they also work with plant engineering companies (handling boilers, air-handling-units, process skids, etc.) and recycling companies.They are a small, but highly experienced, close-knit team, looking for a Project Manager/Engineer to join them as they grow the company.The person they are looking for should be able to add quality to their team; they will be able to work well on their own initiative, as well as part of the team in a growing business and be flexible to work with the company as required.You will be based from our client's Medway office but are expected to travel to their customers' place of business for your role, sometimes needing to stay out overnight.They would be keen to receive applications from candidates who hold the following skills/experience:A Project Engineering background in a large manufacturing company.Technical Sales Manager/Contract Manager currently working in the industrial relocation/installation industry.Previous experience of working capital projects relating to machinery installations and relocations.Although this is a full-time permanent position, they would be happy to discuss the role with experienced individuals looking for part-time or flexible working arrangements.Your main responsibilities / What you will do:As a professional representative for our client's business, you will:Attend enquiry meetings and carry out technical site surveys for the removal, installation or relocation of a wide range of industrial machinery, plant and equipment.Prepare programs, detailed costings and professional quotations for enquiries.In conjunction with the Operations Manager, ensure the correct resources are identified for the job - labour, plant, equipment and materials.Negotiate to successfully win quoted work, whilst minimising company risk.Prepare method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, etc.Liaise with Operations Manager and Site Foreman on the requirements for secured work and maintain a high-level overview to ensure the job progresses to plan and budget.Capture and agree any variations with the customer to keep budgets on track.Debrief with the team on job completion to capture and communicate lessons learned.Report to management on KPI's.Assist management with other tasks as the business needs.Who they are looking for:Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, evidenced by a minimum HND in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.A good general awareness of industrial machinery handling and installation/removal processes, along with associated mechanical services (pipework).Good working knowledge of Health and Safety on construction / manufacturing / industrial sites.Strong Project Management skills.Be organised, adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.Strong communication and negotiation skills (at all levels).Ability to maintain a professional attitude at all times, even under pressure.Ability to build new customer relationships and improve existing.A can-do attitude and problem-solving skills.Excellent time keeping and attendance.Strong IT skills (office packages, AutoCad or Crane plan packages).Be an effective contributor to the team and business.Appointed Person qualification for lifting operations (training can be provided for the right candidate).You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.Why should you choose to work with our clientThe Engineering Project Manager is a pivotal role to the success of the company and its growth ambitions; therefore, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and experience to make a very real contribution to the team.As a small, but effective team, you will benefit from a supportive and flexible environment.They have ambitions to grow the business, in a sustainable way, to the benefit of all involved.
