The post holder will deliver high-quality safe nursing care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct. Role ResponsibilitiesImplement and lead on the delivery of quality nursing care, addressing physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual needs through therapeutic engagement. Ensure fundamental care needs are met—nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support. Coordinate and evaluate patient-centred care, incorporating feedback and working with the MDT. Provide accessible information about care to patients and relatives/carers. Work collaboratively with the MDT and partner organisations. Administer medication, monitor side-effects, and ensure safe custody of medicines and clinical equipment. Lead on and direct junior staff in providing hands-on care. Facilitate admissions and discharges, ensuring all documentation is complete. Advocate for service users’ needs and rights, empowering them in their care. Knowledge and SkillsUnderstanding of mental health signs, symptoms, and their presentation, including risk factors. Recognition and appropriate response to challenging behaviour, supporting de-escalation and resilience. Knowledge of relevant legislation (MHA, MCA, DOLS) and adherence in practice.
