PE Global is currently recruiting for Design Engineer (air and fuel system components) for a leading manufacturer of construction, mining equipment, engines, turbines, locomotives based in Peterborough.The full job description covers all associated skills, previous experience, and any qualifications that applicants are expected to have.Role is 12 months contract, 5 days on site, paying up to 35.31ph PAYE or 47.93ph Umbrella.Duties of the role/Responsibilities Design, Plan and deliver air/fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.Communicate design and project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management.Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional business support for new designs, supplier nomination and capital investment.Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology.Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs and design requirements.Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release.Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities.Education/Experience Bachelors degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience).6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development.Design experience:Highly level of expertise working in CAD and PLM systems :Experience of using CAD (Creo) to design powertrain componentsExperience of using PLM systems (Teamcenter)Experience designing powertrain and/or engine components.Regularly supporting peer reviews working with others to share learning and develop robust solutions.Use of research techniques to identify solutions to problems autonomously.Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.Interested candidates should submit an updated CV.
