If you enjoy diagnosing technical faults, figuring out what actually happened, and writing up clear reports that stand up in court, this could be the perfect next step in your career.No two days are the same here. One week you might be on-site investigating a boiler explosion, the next reviewing fire system designs or digging through BMS logs to trace a fault. This isnt about design its about investigation, analysis, and expert problem-solving.What youll be doing:Investigating failures in HVAC, heating, lighting, pipework, BMS and other building systemsAttending sites across the UK to inspect equipment and gather evidenceReviewing technical drawings, specifications and documentationWriting clear, structured forensic reports that explain the root causeInteracting with insurers, lawyers, and clients becoming a trusted technical expertWorking towards (or expanding on) expert witness training, if thats of interestWhat were looking for:5+ years experience in building services design, consultancy or diagnosticsA degree (BEng or MEng) in Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or similarA problem-solver who enjoys analysing how and why systems failStrong written communication youll need to explain technical issues clearlyComfortable travelling across the UK to sites (pool car or expenses provided)Multiple office locations across UK - Hybrid working.Bonus points for:Knowledge of CIBSE guides, wiring regs, British StandardsExposure to failure investigations, site inspections or expert witness reportingProgress toward Chartered Engineer status (or already there)Ready to use your experience for something more forensic, more varied, and more impactful?
