They deliver renewable energy grid connection, battery storage, distribution network and utility construction projects across the UK.The group are currently expanding their teams to deliver the increase in work from frameworks and growing customers in the electricity grid sector. We are supporting them to identify an experienced Design Manager to help design and develop substation infrastructure in the UK.In this role, you will lead a design team in delivering critical substation infrastructure (11-132kV) for the regulated DNO market. You'll bring your electrical or civil engineering expertise to manage projects from concept to completion.Key responsibilities:Direct a talented team of 10 electrical designers and techniciansLead design works from initial development through constructionCoordinate preparation of detailed design packagesEnsure compliance with regulations and standardsManage sub-consultants for specialized work packagesLead Principal Design matters in line with CDM 2015Conduct feasibility studies and site investigationsProvide expert technical advice to stakeholdersPrioritize workloads and optimize resource allocationDevelop accurate quotations for design and feasibility workManage project budgets and track financial performanceSupport construction teams with rapid technical responseChampion safety-by-design principlesStay current with regulatory changes in the sectorThe ideal person:BSc or MSc degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or a engineering field.Proven experience designing infrastructure projects from a civil or electrical engineering designTechnical expertise in substation designCommercial awareness and budget management skillsChartered Engineer status (or working toward it)Strong collaboration and communication abilitiesTeam leadership capabilities This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the fastest growing utility groups in the UK, where career progression and existing projects are available.If this sounds like it could be your next challenge, please apply and contact Curtis Thompson or Anusha Gopalan for more information.
