Our dedication to quality, efficiency, and personalisation ensures that we deliver facilities that exceed expectations.Further company information is detailed on Merits website: www.merit.co.ukThe RoleAs the Electrical Engineering Design Manager at Merit, you will lead the Electrical Engineering Design Team in producing technically accurate electrical systems design in accordance with BS7671 & the Health Technical Memorandum (HTM), whilst producing and ensuring consistency of electrical design estimates and budgets.Purpose and Objectives:Review and control the technical content of the model and drawings produced and to check and approve drawingsSpecify electrical components are systems in line with Merits platform design.Liaise with relevant personnel regarding modelling and CAD requirements to produce fully co-ordinated models supporting the project from design to final completionFacilitate all key documents for the model and layout through engineering reviews (CDM, Design Reviews, Design Workshops, constructability and maintainability etc.)Advise management to stop or change working techniques where legislation or procedures are being breachedPrepare and issue regular progress reports to Engineering Design and Project ManagementTo check design consultant work and design calculations within individual capabilities or to identify and specify such SQEP resource requiredTo produce engineering working practices and quality plans as requiredTo manage and specify a scope to subcontractors on different disciplines. To align designs with the model and maintain drawings up to dateCarry out value engineering reviews through leading a collaborative workshop process and fix the final design for earliest procurement and manufactureEnsure designs make use of best practice technologies and offsite manufacturing techniquesEnsure alignment of drawings with the model and the client requirementsTo take lead over electrical workshops with the clientTo lead a team of engineers to see through the whole life cycle of a projectTo maintain continuous collaboration with different teams; mechanical, architectural, coordination, factory and site.Personal Qualities and Experience:An appropriate Electrical Engineering qualification and relevant experience in a related Electrical Design role to ensure ability to complete the roleExperience of site project management and team management essentialTrack record of improving cost efficiency through detailed costs analysis versus design outcomesHospital, cleanroom and laboratory design and construction experienceAn understanding of engineering technologiesSignificant Building Services experienceRevit experienceExperience of MMC including off site manufacturingExperience of working on and controlling multiple projects throughout their life span to ensure effective completion to the standards requiredExperience of working with all aspects of Microsoft OfficeExperience of modular wiring solutions.Experience of BS7671, BS5839, BS6701, HTM06 & HTM08.Proven Capability in the following areas:-Proactive leadership with a focus on bringing innovative solutions and overcoming obstaclesAn ability to work either independently or part of a team, adopting the most effective approach to ensure all team tasks are completed to the best of everyones ability.A tenacious self-starter always looking for a better way to deliver and pushing the boundaries of what is possiblePositive communication skills in dealing with stakeholders so that customer satisfaction and awareness is maintained, and problems are satisfactorily resolved in a timely and effective manner.Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skillsStrong project management or project engineer skillsSound understanding of engineering technologiesEnsuring all designs are monitored, controlled and implemented to Company quality requirements, legislation standards and within the allocated timeframes.This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can lead and coordinate design efforts effectively, contributing to the overall success of Merit's projects and objectives.
