Job Description

The Pastry Chef must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for all pastry related functions, controlling costs and ensuring Food & Beverage quality hygiene and safety.If the following job requirements and experience match your skills, please ensure you apply promptly.General:Stay updated on all Em Sherif policies, memos, procedures, specials and promotions, etc.Stay updated on all Em Sherif pastry menuReport to the Head chef any required pastry section maintenance issueAttend and participate in daily briefings and other meetings as scheduledRespect safety and hygiene of Em Sherif premisesRespect grooming standardsMaintain a favorable relationship with all Em Sherif employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximizing employee morale, productivity and efficiencyDaily operationsCheck the daily production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bakeCreate and prepare desserts in accordance with the existent menusDecorate desserts according to requirements as per set Em Sherif Sea Caf standardsPrepare plate desserts for servingImplement and follow an expedited, standardized, efficient preparation kitchen pastry processEnsure consistency, application of standard recipes and portion control of all pastry items as set by Em SherifMake specialty items as requested by the Head chefBe alert about using exact measurements and paying strict attention to timingWork according to tight production schedules (ensure that the correct quantities are being produced for each pastry item order)Prepare items needed for the following dayEnsure that daily preparation kitchen pastry checklists are completedAssist the Head chef to monitor preparation kitchen pastry waste; make suggestions for changes where applicableEnsure that all prepared pastry items are stored appropriately and used according to the FIFO procedureHelp in any area of the pastry kitchen/BOH when circumstances dictateProcurementAssist the Head chef in the Pastrys inventory control and requisition ordersAssist the Head chef in the receiving and/or storage process of pastry goodsPersonal skills and abilitiesHigh commitment to ethics and confidentialityHighly motivated and self-starterExcellent multi-tasking skills and attentive to detailsGood written and oral communication skillsGood leadership skillsAble to cope under pressureKnowledgeable about kitchen products, utensils and equipmentKnowledgeable about pastry techniquesBasic knowledge about fire, health and safety proceduresAble to work standing for several hoursNeat, clean and well-groomedWork experience requirementsMinimum of 3 years of experience as a Pastry chef de partieEducation requirementsRelated degree in Hospitality preferred, or previous experience accumulated years of experienceGood command of English and Arabic (both oral and written)
