We're looking for a Machinist to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Peterborough. In this role, youll work on cutting-edge engine programs, supporting both current and future product development across a wide range of applications.Your RoleYou will:Operate a variety of CNC and conventional machines to produce prototype and test components.Read and interpret engineering drawings to meet exact specifications and tight deadlines.Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a fast-paced R&D environment.Adhere to all safety procedures and quality standards while maintaining high levels of workmanship.Support process improvements and occasionally contribute to training activities.What You'll BringProven experience in operating conventional lathes, milling machines, boring, grinding, and/or CNC machinery.Familiarity with measurement tools such as vernier calipers, depth and thread gauges.The ability to accurately interpret technical engineering drawings and instructions.Good general PC skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).A proactive, self-motivated mindset and excellent teamworking skills.Desirable SkillsApprenticeship or equivalent qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining).Experience with Mazak 5-axis (Mazatrol Smooth X control) or Haas ST10 (Fanuc control).Familiarity with FeatureCAM or similar software.Leadership or coordination experience in a workshop or build environment.Key CompetenciesStrong focus on safe working practicesExcellent communication and collaborationCommitment to quality, standards, and continuous improvementPositive attitude to change and problem-solvingHigh standards of housekeeping and organisationThis is an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with next-generation power systems and engine technology.
